Focus and Scope

Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan Kimia: Kajian Hasil Penelitian Pendidikan Kimia (p-ISSN 2355-7184; e-ISSN 2685-0273) aims at publishing articles related to education fied specifically in chemistry education conducted by professors, researchers, academicians, teachers, scholars, and students. This journal also provides an international forum for sharing, dissemination and discussion of research, experience and perspectives across a wide range of education, teaching, development, instruction, educational projects and innovations, learning methodologies and new technologies in chemistry education.

This journal focuses on research report or literature review in chemistry education field. Scope of journal includes:

  • Chemistry education philosophy
  • Curriculum of chemistry learning
  • Innovation in chemistry learning
  • Assessment and Evaluation in chemistry learning
  • Media of chemistry learning
  • Conception and misconceptions in chemistry
  • Psychology in chemistry education
  • Management and policies on chemistry education
  • PISA Task

Papers published in the six-monthly journal (May and November):
(1) report evaluation and research findings;
(2) treat conceptual and methodological issues; and/or
(3) consider the implications of the above for action; and/or
(4) an extensive book reviews section and also occasional reports on educational materials and equipment.

Peer Review Process

Reviewers must have the Scopus-ID or Researcher-ID (Thomson Reuters) or recorded as a first author in this journal with (minimum has) a doctoral degree.

Reviewers may also be invited from journals published by major publishers such as Elsevier or Springer. They must come from different institutions with authors; preferably originating from different countries. Reviewers must not be subject to a conflict of interest involving the author(s) or manuscript(s). Nevertheless, the editor is not obligated to use any reviewers suggested by the author(s).

All articles submitted to JPPK will be proceeded double blind peer review by (minimum) 2 peer-reviewers who are expert in their field. The Editor may assign the Reviewer(s) from the JPPK's Peer-reviewers. The acceptance of an article by Editor depends on the novelty of research, significance of the article, truth of the content, the degree of originality, the clarity of description, and the conformity with the objective of the journal. Language used in this journal is Indonesia.

Articles may be accepted without revision, minor revisions, major revision, or rejected. The Editor shall inform you of the results of the review as soon as possible, hopefully in 30 to 60 days. The author is given an opportunity to revise his article based on the reviewers' suggestion (and editor) no later than 8 weeks after the email notification. 

All incoming articles will be checked for authenticity to prevent plagiarism by using turnitin and/or iThenticate anti-plagiarism software.

Authors will not be charged an Article Publication Fees to maintain the journal management process. All articles published on JPPK are open access by following the Creative Commons: Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International license. Full license can be found here.

This journal publishes articles twice a year on May and November. Starting from 2019, this journal only publishes five articles in each issue.

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

 

Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement

This statement clarifies ethical behavior of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in our journals, including the authors, the editors, the peer-reviewers and the publisher, namely Chemistry Education Study Program in Collaboration with the Indonesian of Chemistry Education Community.

Section A: Publication and authorship 

  1. All submitted papers are subject to strict peer-review process by at least two Reviewers that are experts in the area of the particular paper.
  2. Review processes are blind peer review.
  3. The factors taken into account in the review are relevance, soundness, significance, originality, readability, and language.
  4. The possible decisions include acceptance, acceptance with revisions, or rejection.
  5. If authors are encouraged to revise and resubmit a submission, there is no guarantee that the revised submission will be accepted.
  6. Rejected articles will not be re-reviewed.
  7. The paper acceptance is constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.
  8. No research can be included in more than one publication. 

Section B: Authors’ responsibilities

  1. Authors must certify that their manuscripts are their original work.
  2. Authors must cite articles from Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan Kimia: Kajian Hasil Penelitian Pendidikan Kimia
  3. Authors must certify that the manuscript has not previously been published elsewhere.
  4. Authors must certify that the manuscript is not currently being considered for publication elsewhere. 
  5. Authors must participate in the peer review process. 
  6. Authors are obliged to provide retractions or corrections of mistakes.
  7. All Authors mentioned in the paper must have significantly contributed to the research.
  8. Authors must state that all data in the paper are real and authentic.
  9. Authors must notify the Editors of any conflicts of interest.
  10. Authors must identify all sources used in the creation of their manuscript.
  11. Authors must report any errors they discover in their published paper to the Editors. 

Section C: Reviewers’ responsibilities

  1. Reviewers should keep all information regarding papers confidential and treat them as privileged information. 
  2. Reviews should be conducted objectively, with no personal criticism of the author
  3. Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments
  4. Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.
  5. Reviewers should also call to the Editor in Chief’s attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.
  6. Reviewers should not review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers. 

Section D: Editors’ responsibilities

  1. Editors have complete responsibility and authority to reject/accept an article.
  2. Editors are responsible for the contents and overall quality of the publication.
  3. Editors should always consider the needs of the authors and the readers when attempting to improve the publication.
  4. Editors should guarantee the quality of the papers and the integrity of the academic record.
  5. Editors should publish errata pages or make corrections when needed.
  6. Editors should have a clear picture of a research’s funding sources.
  7. Editors should base their decisions solely on the papers’ importance, originality, clarity, and relevance to publication’s scope.
  8. Editors should not reverse their decisions nor overturn the ones of previous editors without serious reason. 
  9. Editors should preserve the anonymity of reviewers. 
  10. Editors should ensure that all research material they publish conforms to internationally accepted ethical guidelines.
  11. Editors should only accept a paper when reasonably certain.
  12. Editors should act if they suspect misconduct, whether a paper is published or unpublished, and make all reasonable attempts to persist in obtaining a resolution to the problem.
  13. Editors should not reject papers based on suspicions; they should have proof of misconduct.
  14. Editors should not allow any conflicts of interest between staff, authors, reviewers and board members.

Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication The publication of an article in a peer-reviewed IAES Journals is an essential building block in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. It is therefore important to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the authors, the journal editors, the peer reviewers, the publisher and the society. Chemistry Education Study Program as publisher of this Journal takes its duties of guardianship over all stages of publishing extremely seriously and we recognize our ethical and other responsibilities. We are committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint or other commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions. In addition, the Unsri, IAES, and Editorial Board will assist in communications with other journals and/or publishers where this is useful and necessary.

Publication decisions The editors of the JPPK are responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The validation of the work in question and its importance to researchers and readers must always drive such decisions. The editors may be guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism. The editors may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.

Fair play An editor at any time evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

Confidentiality The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

Disclosure and conflicts of interest Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without the express written consent of the author.

Duties of Reviewers Contribution to Editorial Decisions Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and through the editorial communications with the author may also assist the author in improving the paper.

Promptness Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process.

Standards of Objectivity Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

Acknowledgement of Sources Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation. A reviewer should also call to the editor's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.

Duties of Authors Reporting standards Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.

Data Access and Retention Authors are asked to provide the raw data in connection with a paper for editorial review, and should be prepared to provide public access to such data (consistent with the ALPSP-STM Statement on Data and Databases), if practicable, and should in any event be prepared to retain such data for a reasonable time after publication.

Originality and Plagiarism The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others that this has been appropriately cited or quoted.

Multiple, Redundant or Concurrent Publication An author should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

Authorship of the Paper Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the paper, and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.

Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects If the work involves chemicals, procedures or equipment that have any unusual hazards inherent in their use, the author must clearly identify these in the manuscript.

Fundamental errors in published works When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.

Licensing (Creative Commons) and Archiving

This journal allow reuse and remixing of its content, in accordance with a CC BY. This license lets others distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon your work, even commercially, as long as they credit you for the original creation. Furthermore, Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan Kimia: Kajian Hasil Penelitian Pendidikan Kimia (JPPK) is archieved in LOCKSS and CLOCKSS.

 

Withdrawal of Manuscripts

Author is not allowed to withdraw submitted manuscripts, because the withdrawal is waste of valuable resources that editors and referees spent a great deal of time processing submitted manuscript, money and works invested by the publisher. If author still requests withdrawal of his/her manuscript when the manuscript is still in the peer-reviewing process, author will be punished with paying $250 per manuscript, as withdrawal penalty to the publisher. However, it is unethical to withdraw a submitted manuscript from one journal if accepted by another journal. The withdrawal of manuscript after the manuscript is accepted for publication, author will be punished by paying US$550 per manuscript. Withdrawal of manuscript is only allowed after withdrawal penalty has been fully paid to the Publisher.

If author don't agree to pay the penalty, the author and his/her affiliation will be blacklisted for publication in this journal. Even, his/her previously published articles will be removed from our online system.

 

Article processing charges (APCs)

We do not charge authors any fee for submitting, processing and publishing articles. Readers can read and download any full-text articles for free of charge.
