    Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the growth and yield of Bima varieties onion with the composition of the planting media. The research was carried out in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University in September 2018 to December 2018. The research used Bima variety onion seeds. Media treatment P0 = 100% soil (control), Ps1= 90% soil and 10% cow manure, Ps2 = 80% soil and 20% Cow  manure, Ps3 = 70% soil and 30% Cow manure, Ps4 = 60% soil and 40% Cow manure, Ps5 = 50% soil and 50% Cow manure, Pa1 = 90% soil and 10% husk charcoal, Pa2 = 80% soil and 20% husk charcoal, Pa3 = 70% soil and 30% husk charcoal, Pa4 = 60% soil and 40% husk charcoal, Pa5 = 50% soil and 50% husk charcoal. This study used RBD and continued with a orthogonal contrast test. The results showed that the composition of the planting medium with treatment Ps4= 60% soil and 40% Cow manure had a positive influence on the growth of shallots, as evidenced by variable plant height average 40.76 cm, fresh weight of tubers per average seed. - average 46.83
