ANALISA PENGGUNAAN AIR INDUCTION SYSTEM DAN KONVERTER KATALITIK PADA MOTOR YAMAHA JUPITER-MX TERHADAP EMISI GAS BUANG

Abstract


Ringkasan

Air Induction System (AIS) dan konverter katalitik merupakan suatu teknologi yang berfungsi untuk mengendalikan kadar emisi gas buang pada kendaraan bermotor. Dengan menggunakan alat ini, gas buang akan bercampur dengan udara bersih di dalam saluran buang (Exhaust) untuk dapat bereaksi kembali, sehingga ketika gas ini keluar dari knalpot menuju atmosfer, gas ini akan lebih aman terhadap lingkungan. Untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemakaian Air Induction System (AIS) dan konverter katalitik, dilakukan pengujian emisi gas buang pada motor bakar bensin 4 langkah Yamaha Jupiter MX dengan putaran mesin yang bervariasi. Pengujian dilakukan dengan menggunakan AIS dan dibandingkan dengan yang tidak menggunakan AIS. Dari pengujian dapat diketahui nilai emisi CO, emisi HC dan emisi CO2 serta emisi O2. Pengujian ini dilakukan dengan 5 kali variasi putaran yang berbeda yaitu dari putaran terendah 1400 rpm, 2500 rpm, 3500 rpm, 4500 rpm sampai dengan putaran 5500 rpm. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa motor yang dilengkapi Air Induction System (AIS) dan konverter katalitik menghasilkan emisi CO dan HC yang lebih rendah daripada motor yang tidak dilengkapi Air Induction System (AIS) dan konverter kataliti,. Tetapi emisi CO2 lebih tinggi.

Abstract

Air Induction System (AIS) and catalytic converter are representing a kind of technology in order to control the rate of pollutant gas emission which is produce by the motorcycle. By using this instrument, the pollutant gas will mix with the clean air in exhaust to be reacted again, so when the gas is out from the exhaust instrument. These gases will safety to the environment.In order to know what the effect by using Air Induction System (AIS) and catalytic converter, have been done tested of the rate emission gas to motorcycle use the gasoline, four valve, Yamaha Jupiter MX,2007 in many variation of rpm. These test used by AIS and compare it with non AIS. From this test, it can show the rate of Co emission gas, HC emission, and CO2 emission, oxygen O2 and lambda. These tests do in five variation rpm, and it’s different one to another, from the lowest rpm 1400 rpm, 2500 rpm, 3500 rpm, 4500 rpm to the 5500 rpm.From the test which have been done, it can conclude that the vehicle with Air Induction System (AIS) and catalytic converter produce the CO emission and HC emission more lower then the vehicle with non AIS and non catalytic converter but the rate of CO2 higher.
